I have a feeling that Dane Cook will suffer a similar fate to that of Andrew Dice Clay. Filling up arenas at the height of his career...then struggling to book a gig at the local YukYuks in Greensboro, NC at the end of his career.

Seriously, Dane Cook is awful.

So is Carlos Mencia. In fact, Mencia is worse than Cook. At least Cook makes me chortle every once in a while. Mencia just makes me angry.

How did two completely unfunny comedians get to be so popular?

Probably for the same reason unfunny people like Andrew Dice Clay and Gallagher became popular.

Okay okay, Gallagher wasn't that bad. Dice Clay was.

I'll spare you the reasons why I think Mencia and Cook are unfunny. Just watch them.

Guys like Patton Oswalt, Louis CK, and Jim Gaffigan are funny. Listen to them. Enjoy their wisdom, observations, anger, and nihilism.

Daniel Tosh and Mike Burbiglia are also funny dudes. Frank Caliendo and Pablo Francisco are fantastic (I love impressionists). Legends like George Carlin, Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Dave Chappelle, and Dana Carvey are timeless and always funny.

I'll also give a shout out to Eddie Izzard, Ron White, and even Jeff Foxworthy.

Fuck, Larry the Cable Guy is kinda funny to me, a non-redneck dude...at least compared to Cook and Mencia.

Look, I just gave a list of some great comedians to like besides Cook and Mencia. If you have any others to contribute, please do.

For a while, Dane Cook was hilarious. It was somewhere around the time that he got that HBO special and started acting in movies where he just wasn't funny anymore. Listening to Dane Cook now is like listening to a frat boy at a beer pong party.

You forgot David Cross, Mitch Hedberg, Andy Kaufman, and Richard Pryor on your list.

Ah, excellent additions.

Richard Pryor is arguably the best stand-up of all time....and I forgot him.

Mitch Hedberg's legend will always live on.

David Cross is funny, but I always liked his counterpart, Bob Odenkirk, a little better.

Andy Kaufman, another legend I forgot to include. Thanks Peter.

thanks to peter... Mitch Hedberg was mentioned :)
I LOVE Eddie Izzard...

I do like dane cook though, but *shrugs* i liked 'harmful if swallowed' so much better than his more recent stuff. And when i saw him perform it was at the west palm beach improv... small... more intimate, where he took the time to sign and take pictures with everyone... which i thought was pretty damn cool. Now...? i dont think the experience is the same...

I love Jeff Dunham
and Jim Gaffigan... two words... "Hot Pocket"

also... try mitch fatel... he's an interesting one...
